Why is Tutankhamun So Famous?

The tomb of Tutankhamun was one of the most important discoveries ever made in Egypt, not for its size or elaborate wall paintings, as other tombs throughout the Valley of the Kings, but because it was nearly intact, with looters and grave robbers taking almost nothing from it for over three thousand years.

Because it hadn’t been looted, the grave-goods were still piled inside, giving us a glimpse into all-things-Egyptian, from furniture to clothing, transportation to farming.

Below, you’ll find several videos giving you a glimpse into this amazing discovery, as well as photos of the folks involved in bringing the treasures to the world.
